about

Mothers of Gut are constantly reinventing themselves, embracing the primordial elements of Italian psych-pop, Turkish rock, ... more European industrial, progressive hardcore, R&B, dub, soul and anything else they can get their hands on. There is no form, no tool they will not utilize to accurately depict their collective despair. less

Track Name: Unking
A thousand suns have come and gone,
unto this family tree, a dark malignancy.
Transcending former names and dynasties,
a man has gripped the land and brought it to its knees.
The melting sands of time will turn to glass,
for all to see him well, scorched by the flames of hell.
Glowing with the light that never dies,
for in every maddened man, a garden waits for him.
As he steps into the light to face his trial,
so cosmic justice brings- himself declared Unking.
As he's casting down his crown for all to see,
so all remembered the end of tyranny.
Track Name: Stalemate
When breath turns to words
and words just seem to fail,
it's hard to keep breathing.
The melting snow divides
black mountain river lines.
The seasons are changing.
We swim through endless dreams
and wake as lords and kings,
forgetful of our true names.
So if memories are graves
then pour that mud all over me,
and never bother to leave a rose.
Track Name: Smoke the Master
The night is long and I am all alone
with the stars in the sky and the trees;
with the moon reflecting on the sea.

The night is long and I am all alone
with the stars in the sky and the trees;
with the moon reflecting on the sea.

The Unking born will live forever.
Track Name: The Summer Century
Take my hand.
Join me in silence.
We will be safe; we won't be harmed.
A century of summer
will pour through the trees.
We will be safe; we won't be harmed.
We will be safe; we will be nothing.
Track Name: Wizard Tree
Hold your eyes to the ocean,
hold your heart to the sea.
The sky will always be open
and you will always be free.

Hold your eyes to the ocean,
hold your heart to the sea.
The waves will always be oprhans.
Their tears will dry at your feet.

Hold your eyes to the ocean,
hold your heart to the sea.
The wizard tree is forgiving.
The birds will sing to the leaves.
Your eyes will know why they're open.
Your tears will wash over me.

Hold your eyes to the ocean,
hold your heart to the sea.
The door will always be open,
so come and take what you need.
The wizard tree is waiting
to lend you shade in your dreams.
